best thing to do if you think you're flaring

  1. Hi there, ! Flares can be really tough, so the first thing is to listen to your body. Rest is key — don’t feel guilty about taking it easy. Stay hydrated, and try using heat or cold packs on the areas that hurt most. If things don’t improve, definitely reach out to your rheumatologist — sometimes your meds might need tweaking, or there could be other options to help. Here’s an article that might give you some helpful tips too. https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/what-is-ra/ra-flare

    1. Thanks for the article, LaToya. It's much appreciated.

      1. Hi, ! I'm not sure if you were in the middle of a flare when you made this post, but I wanted to check in on you and see how you were doing. How has the (unofficial) start of summer been for you? Are you feeling pretty good? I hope so!

        Best, Erin, Team Member.

        1. I wasn't in the middle of a flare but was definitely having other medical issues. I wish I could say I feel better but I can't lie. I had an episode with my left leg which began leaking fluid. It was very painful. A round of meds for a week healed it, at least for now. Thank you for inquiring. It means a lot to me that people care. Hope you are well.

          1. Hi . Glad you were able to get some treatment that helped with your leg. Mind if I ask if the issue was RA related? Hoping the issue remains healed. Best, Richard (Team Member)

          2. , well, I am glad it wasn't a flare, but I am sorry you still aren't feeling so great. That stinks. I hope your left leg stays healed and healthy and that you start feeling better very soon! And I hope that appointment on the 7th is productive.
