Does anyone have RA nodules that come out on your hands when you have a flare up? Even on the palms.

  1. Hi . I can't personally speak on the nodules, but I know a lot of people in the community experience them, particularly on the hands. Here is an article from our editorial team on the topic: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/what-is-ra/ra-nodules. Also, here is Tamara on her experience with them: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/rheumatoid-nodules. Hope this information is helpful and that others chime in with their experiences. 2. Yes, I first noticed them on my left palm and thought it was something with a tendon. Then I noticed them on several fingers and toes.

    1. , I am glad you chimed in here! I bet appreciates knowing they are not the only person dealing with this particular issue. Has anything helped with the nodules and swelling at all? Or have you just learned to live with it?

  3. Yes and increased swelling.

  4. Just living with it and praying, but I can't even read my Bible because it's hard to move my arms above my shoulders and the book feels really heavy. I tried a Bible app on my phone but it's full of ads.

    1. Hi . Are you currently on treatment for your RA and, if so, do you feel it is helping? I ask because when you describe the problems moving your arms it sounds like your RA is not being controlled. There are more treatments available than ever (see: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/treatment/drugs-and-prescription-medications-for-ra), so don't hesitate to ask your doctor about what more can be done.
Also, I want to note that a number of our contributors and community members have commented on the benefits of using a Kindle or similar electronic book for reading. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here who was diagnosed at age two, 47 years ago), loves hers - the damage to her hands and, frankly all over, makes paper books very difficult. Another contributor, Carla, wrote about the e-reader and other assistive devices here: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/assistive-devices. Hoping you can get some better relief soon. 2. , well, if any book should be available online for free with NO ADS, one would think it would be the bible! Sheesh! Do you have an e-reader? You may be able to download the bible on the device and not have to deal with the ads. I love to read in bed (and I prefer paper books over e-readers), so I know how hard it can be to manage those heavier books.

I am glad your faith is a source of support and strength for you and I do hope you can find an easier to access bible (with no ads).
