Exercise Equipment

Hi everyone, Hopefully everyone is staying warm and safe. I am considering buying the “Total Gym” machine. I can not walk on uneven ground and because of hip issues. I live in the country there is no place safe for me to walk. I have considered the other types of machines and feel this one wouldn’t put as much stress on my back and hips as other types of machine. Any input would be greatly appreciated especially from others that have used exercise equipment.

  1. Hi, ! I hope you get some helpful feedback from other community members on this topic. I would talk with your physician, if you can, about possible exercise options. I cannot personally recommend any one single piece of equipment. However, looking at reviews, the Total Gym seems to score pretty well. The biggest "cons" are price and it can be a little hard to figure out at first.

I understand your desire to find low/no impact exercise that you can safely do in your own home and a combination of strength training and cardio is a great idea!

While I would tell you to take anything I say with a grain of salt, as I'm no exercise equipment expert, I do like checking reviews online. Even sites like Amazon will have a nice mix of reviews that may give you a good idea of the pros and cons of the equipment. If you happen to know a physical therapist, they might also be able to offer some insight into what exercises and exercise equipment could be best for you.

    1. Hi there
I purchased a workout machine called Six Pack made by a company named TuffStuff. It is a cable weight type machine up to 250 pounds of weight stack. I use it quite a bit and really like it. Though it costs about $4000
