Just wondering if it’s normal

Hi there new to the forum but longtime sufferer ,
I was at uni 2009 when I was first struck down with this and did most of my Third year from home , I was in excruciating pain and most days would reside in bed is I didn’t have the energy to do anything , pain in shoulders hips elbows hand feet knees lol it keeps going ! But the final bit was when a trip it a and e was needed as my arm became locked behind my head. After many trips to a and e my doctor sent me to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me with palindromic arthritis and fibromyalgia as my bloods were showing the inflammation, even tho I do not swell on my joints it’s just a chronic radiating pain. I’m now at the point years later I have been steady on my meds still flare up and it takes 4 days to become what I call normal (good day) but my pain is increasing and flare ups more frequent . My dr seems to be just ignoring my concerns and pushing everything onto fibro , when I think I should have had a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis so I could try other drugs that are available . , what would be a normal progression for palindromic to rheumatoid? Any help appreciated of similar soi know I’m not going insane !

  1. RA and PA are certainly close cousins. If I was you, if possible, I'd check for a second opinion with a different rheumatologist. You may even find out it was RA all along, it is all up to see what a qualified rheumatologist thinks. If you are unable to find another rheumy in your area (I know it's difficult some places) then you'll have to be a bit more assertive with your current rheumatologist and tell them that your current treatment regimen isn't cutting it any more. It is very common for autoimmune arthritis meds to work for a while and then start to not work any more. It happened to me for literal decades before I found a regimen that worked long term. It's a long stretch of trial and error unfortunately. Let us know how it goes and anything else we can do to help! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

    1. I was first told palindromic then with more symptoms it seems I have Psoriatic arthritis
      So hang in there
It was the same rheumatologist just kept bothering him with my new symptoms .
      I also got a second opinion .
