Thirty years ago, as a single, self-supporting person, I didn't have the luxury of time to get emotional regarding the effects of this disease. It was all I could do to make it through each day. It was darkest when the MTX, max dose, no longer worked. I couldn't take biologics because I had been exposed to TB as a kid.....and I was too old for prophylactic TB treatment [which you would normally complete before going on a biologic]. My knight in shining armor was my rheumatologist, who had enough faith in me to know I'd be very cautious if I was allowed to try Humira. He made it happen. It was a life changing event for me. Total euphoria.
My advice is simple: Talk honestly to someone who understands the disease and what you're going through. Two heads are always better than one and you just might come up with something that will make life better. There is ALWAYS a solution.
