Painful feet

Hi I was diagnosed when I was 58 I am now 62 and in the last 4 weeks I’ve really been suffering with painful feet so much so that I can hardly walk. This is a new symptom to me and was wandering if this is RA or something else, any advice would be appreciated
Love Gail x

  1. Hi, ! I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve been dealing with painful feet—it sounds incredibly challenging. While I can’t provide medical advice, it’s important to recognize that new symptoms can arise with rheumatoid arthritis, but they might also be related to other conditions. It would be beneficial to consult with your rheumatologist or healthcare provider to discuss this new symptom and get a proper assessment. In the meantime, I want to share a popular article featuring an engaging thread from our members discussing this very symptom and how it has impacted them and what they have done to manage this kind of pain. I think it might be helpful to you. You can access it here- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/mtp-joint-pain. I hope you get some resolve soon! Keep us updated. 1. Thank u so much x

      1. - diagnosed at the same age - I’m now 68. My feet are damaged because medication did not help me for 3 years. My BIGGEST suggestion is to find a really good Podiatrist- Now. Not later. You may need to invest in so expensive shoes, but it will be worth it. By the time I got a good one, the damage had been done. I’m not sure what you have available in your area, but one of my biggest regrets is waiting to get a great Podiatrist. I am a fellow RA patient and I relate to this so much. My biggest regret with my treatment is not going sooner - I hope it helps - there are a lot of items to make your feet more comfortable but do yourself a favor and find the best Podiatrist you can. 💕 Good Luck in your journey. 🙏🏼 🕊️

      2. thank you for taking the time to respond Gail x

    2. , your feet and mine should meet for coffee. My feet and ankles have been especially painful lately. Once I sit down, I think long and hard before getting up again because walking is going to hurt.
Like mentioned, it would be wise to let your rheumatologist know. In addition, you might want to get established with a podiatrist. They can offer a lot of strategies to help your feet. I landed in the office of the nicest, most compassionate doctor several years ago. His mom has RA so he "gets it" and truly wants to help alleviate pain.

      1. , you're welcome! I hope your nurse line was able to provide names of reputable podiatrists.
What you said is true. It helps to know that we're not alone in this. I have supportive folks in my life but they don't have RA so I try not to let my RA struggles and worries take center stage. It's so nice to come here and spend time with people who understand.
I'm wishing you much better days on your feet.

      2. I'm so glad to hear that you're taking the steps to see a podiatrist. I hope that you make so progress with your foot pain really soon! Please keep us updated! Kindly, Latoya (Team Member)
