Rasuvo side effects - come and go?

About a month and a half ago I was bumped up to the 25mg dose of Rasuvo, as my symptoms have improved, but linger. It feels like it is sort of working, but the side effects have me boggled. Some weeks, I'm totally fine. Others, I have the "hangover" for about two days. Has anyone experienced this? I'm wondering if it's not actually from the medication, and maybe some other oddity that comes with autoimmune diseases (I also have Hashimotos).

Going for my follow up in March where the doc will determine if I should stick with Rasuvo or move to Humira (or the like). I just can't seem to tell if I am getting better, or if this is just the way things are supposed to feel!

  1. Hi, !

I think talking to your doctor about this is definitely your best bet, but I can tell you that other community members have described the hangover feeling after their methotrexate treatments, so you're not alone in this!

It's a little interesting that you don't experience this every time, but I can't say whay that might be. I wanted to share this article about RA hangover and at the end of the article, the author mentions feeling the hangover feeling after taking methotrexate -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/hangover. And here's a piece from one of our community members on the methotrexate hangover -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/stories/hangover-dont-deserve. What you are experiencing could very well be caused by something else, so I think you're smart to talk to your doctor about this at your upcoming appointment.

Also, many medications used to treat RA can take 6-8 weeks to reach full efficacy, so you might continue to see improvements in your symptoms. But, if you decide Rasuvo isn't a good fit for you, you have every right to seek a different treatment option.
