The idea of 'Dancing with RA'

I've seen some people talk about the concept of dancing with RA. My own therapist told me about this as well in a way to cope with it. What are your thoughts? Do you like to think of it this way, or do you like the concept of "fighting it" better? Let me know your thoughts!

  1. This is a great analogy! I like the concept of dancing rather than fighting. With fighting, it makes me think of being against something and try to win a struggle with the hopes of winning. Fighting is also tiring and takes up a lot of energy because you're trying to come up on top. With dancing, it puts me in the mind of adjusting or modifying rather than fighting against it. It can be and feel impossible to win every "fight" but you can find more ways to adjust and modify to still come out a winner. -Latoya (Team Member)

    1. I agree! There’s something distressing about autoimmune diseases and fighting our own bodies. Jo

      1. Hi . I have to admit that when I saw the title of the Forum I thought of my wife, Kelly's article "Dancing Queen:" https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/dancing-queen. I think it still fits - find time to dance and "Enjoy the moment and forget your worries and your pain with a little joy of movement." That said, Kelly has recently been taking an online chair boxing class and it has done wonders for her shoulder movement, so maybe a little of both! Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
