Thumb locks up
A few days ago my thumb started locking up. Its quite painful. I massage the base of my thumb and after a while it releases. Some of my other fingers started doing this too but not to such an extent. Can I stop this from progressing? I am on Simponni Aria and methotrexate.
I do not know, of course, what the issue is, but I have often suffered from trigger finger. Perhaps this link for the Mayo Clinic will add some clarity.

Concerning avoiding further damage, it would certainly be worth a conversation with your doctor on whether your treatment needs to be adjusted. I can also tell you that my wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here who has had juvenile RA for over 40 years, since age two), has found occupational and physical therapy helpful. Just recently they fitted her for a ring splint to help with one of her particular damaged finger joints to good effect. Hope you find some relief.
