How do you manage the day-to-day pain?

What to do with the pain.. I cant seem to get any relief, of course I have good and bad days but man it tends to be more bad... Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with the pain?

  1. One thing that helps me is heat. It doesn't take the pain away but it does make me a little more comfortable.

    1. Thanks!! You don’t know how many late night hot showers I’ve be taking.. works wonders!

      1. I think it may be time to look into seeing a pain management specialist. Good pain management can completely change your quality of life. Don’t worry about everything on the news about opioids, they are medicine just like anything else, and have worked wonders for me. Keep on keepin’ on, DPM

        1. Thank you!!

        2. Thank for the tips! I'm in Michigan too..

      2. Hi bcole5581. Sorry you are struggling. Everyone's RA is different, thus what constitutes under control is different, but if you are having more bad days than good you may want to speak to your rheumatologist about whether your treatment regimen needs to be adjusted. On top of the pain, uncontrolled RA can lead to more joint damage and a host of other systemic problems. In this article one of our contributors writes about how, for just these reasons, his rheumatologist would not let him settle for having the occasional flare: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/the-good-doctor/. Hoping you get some answers soon. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)

        1. Thank you Richard!! I'm seeing my rheumatologist next week.. I'm going to grill him on treatment. Currently taking Methotrexate 2.5mg x 7, folic acid, and Leucovorin...
