Worse pain ever

Having the worst flare up I have ever had, in so much pain can hardly walk and can’t sleep because of the pain

  1. Oh, goodness, ! I am so sorry you are experiencing such a strong flare. I do hope it passes quickly, although I know RA rarely works like that. Please practice all the self care you can to preserve your energy and mental health and know we're thinking of you and hoping this flare passes very soon!

    Gentle Hugs, Erin, Team Member.

    1. Hi . First, let me echo Erin. Second, I want to ask if you and your doctor have a plan in place for what to do when a flare hits? Our patient leader Kat wrote about her flare action plan here: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/medical-conditions-occurring-along-with-ra/lung-diseases. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), has a plan with her rheumatologist for a prescription for emergency prednisone. I know this may not help in the here and now, but want to share the information for the future. Have you been able to reach your doctor? Hoping you are feeling better soon and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing. Best, Richard (Team Member)

      1. Thank you Erin and Richard for your kind words, no we do not have a plan but I find Tramadol helps me but I have to fight my GP for it, he doesn’t like giving it out. I had none left so was in agony the pain was unreal, I also have fibromyalgia. I just thought I can’t do this.

        1. Hi . That would be frustrating. I also want to note that, while tramadol will help with the pain, it is not an anti-inflammatory and thus won't help with the underlying flare. This is why Kelly's doctor prescribes the prednisone for her flare action plan. Of course, prednisone can be problematic for many (it is often the drug those with autoimmune conditions have a love/hate relationship with). I hope your doctor will listen more to your needs. 2. Hi, ! Just wanted to check in and see how you've been. Have you gotten any relief from your flare-up? I really hope things have started to turn around for you. I know how difficult it can be, and I’m hoping that the pain is easing up even a little bit. You’re not alone in this, and I’m hoping for brighter days ahead for you. Take care of yourself as best as you can! -Latoya (Team Member)
