Is anyone here positive in Parvo virus (b19)?

Hello, i am trying to understand where i stand the last 6 months. I got pain and swellings, all my tests where negative for RF and anti ccp, and my doctor ordered parvo test, to which i was positive (igm and igg antibodies). He attributes my sympoms to the virus and i am only in medrom 8mg and in good shape regarding pain etc. Tried to decrease it by 1mg and symptoms came back. I am confused now and do not know what to expect. Next tests and visit to doc, in 10 days. Are you aware of the virus and how it works? Or is it RA and my doc made a wrong diagnosis (also a second doc said the same, but symptoms are still here) Thank you!

  1. Hi katrin48! Thank you for your question. I'm hopeful any community member who also has the virus will chime in and share their experience with you. Please keep us updated on how you're doing if you'd like to share! I'll be thinking of you. Warmly, Alesandra (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)

    1. Hi katrin48. Hopefully some others will chime in with their experiences. There is research looking at the link between Human Parvovirus B19 an RA, particularly the virus as a causitive agent/trigger for RA. This article from the Procedures of the National Academy of Sciences looks at exactly this issue: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC20958/. In addition, this article from The Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases looks at RA after human parvovirus B19 infection: https://ard.bmj.com/content/58/2/130. Your doctor should be able to provide additional information on this issue. Wishing you the best and hope you get some answers soon. Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
