Sorry to hear that you are having forgetfulness issues dawnvg. I don't know if you have heard of brain fog, but it is a real issue for many with RA. While, as you mention, pain can be associated with memory issues, when it comes to RA pain is not the only variable in cognitive issues. As this article from one of our contributors discusses, the impact of RA on mental functioning is not all in your head: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/just-head-impact-ra-mental-functioning/. The article looks at some of the chemical and inflammatory issues that may be related to cognitive functioning.
As with any new symptom, this should be brought to the attention of your doctor. In all likelihood, your rheumatologist is familiar with brain fog. Working together, you may be able to find a treatment plan that will mitigate this effect. Wishing you the best and keep us posted on how you are doing. Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
