  1. "Has anyone had foot surgery and how successful was it ... I have 6 dislocated toes and feel like I have several large rocks in my shoes every moment of the day ...any advise would help me with this disesio. "

    1. I have had several foot surgeries, as result of diabetes complications. I have found that success depends on the skill of the surgeon. By and large the various surgeons did a great job, but one had significant challenges and she had great difficulty. In fact I had to have that surgery redone and additional work done by a surgeon to make corrections.

Additionally, you should be prepared for recovery. In my case, each surgery required that I stay off of my foot for 6 to 10 weeks. I could not stand or drive since the foot issue was on my right foot. It took a great deal of effort by my wife to care for me during recovery.

I hope your surgery goes amazingly well. in the end, my foot is as recovered as it will ever be and I am glad I had it done.

  3. "Hi I am new to this site and very glad to hear how my fellow RA friends handle there disease having been diagnosed in my 30th birthday when I woke with what felt like a broken shoulder - so 36 years later I can relate - my armour is trying to look normal and stylist as my appearance is very important to me - several operations in the past 36 years have left me with many scares and lots of lumpy joints - but you have to put on your best face and get out there. I admire you all and I am thankful for the amazing drugs we now have available. Cheers Tutty"

    1. @tutty I have had RA for about 36 years as well, but I was diagnosed at age 9, so a little bit younger than you. Ha ha. I have had many surgeries and other conditions and you are right, you have to make a choice to get up every day and do your best, and not sweat the small stuff. You can come here any time, and we will be ready for whatever you need. Keep on keepin’ on, DPM
