CART therapy and possible future cure

Great article in The Atlantic about CART therapy, originally developed for cancer, and now being tested as a possible CURE for autoimmune diseases!

  1. Hi . Thanks for sharing. It is really interesting because it was not long ago that immunotherapy was thought to be the opposite of a potential treatment for autoimmune diseases because it activates the immune system to help fight invaders - a hyped up immune system is generally the last thing those with an autoimmune condition want. Figuring out how to alter the t-cells has been the trick and is yielding some pretty remarkable results. Here are a couple of other articles discussing research: https://www.uchicagomedicine.org/forefront/immunotherapy-articles/car-t-cell-therapy-treating-autoimmune-diseases and https://www.med.unc.edu/neurology/car-t-cell-therapy-autoimmune-disease-treatment/.

It is actually a pretty exciting time in the world of autoimmune research. I don't know if you have seen the information on the SetPoint vagus nerve stimulation treatment: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/forums/update-on-setpoint-vagus-nerve-stimulation-ra-treatment. Hopefully soon many more will be heading for remission. Best, Richard (Team Member)
