Does anyone suffer from rashes and hives with rheumatoid
DeeVee
I suffer from rashes and hives daily with my RA. They actually started before I ever saw the doctor for a confirmed diagnosis. Constant itching.
Anyone?

Hi, . I’m really sorry you’ve been dealing with that daily. I know the constant itching must be so frustrating on top of everything else. While you wait for others to chime in. I want to share with you an article that talks about skin issues that can arise due to RA- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/skin-issues-associated-ra. Have you found anything that helps bring you some relief, and has your doctor given you any insight into what might be causing it? -Latoya (Team Member)

I use Aveeno 1% hydrocortisone anti itch cream. It helps a bit but not much. The constant itching is maddening. When I mentioned it to my rheumatologist, she told me to go to an allergist. I do have an appointment next week with RA doctor and will chat more. I think if anything I might see a dermatologist?

Hi . A dermatologist seems like it could be a good place to start. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here) developed a terrible skin condition and then infection. No one got anywhere with it, including after a couple of nights in the hospital. Finally she saw her dermatologist and he diagnosed her immediately with a rare form of psoriasis (then confirmed with a biopsy). I'm not saying this is what you are experiencing, just the pointing out the effectiveness of the dermatologist in identifying skin issues. Kelly wrote about her experience and the importance of seeing specialists here: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/specialist-treatment. If the dermatologist thinks you could be experiencing some sort of allergy testing for that would still always be an option. Best, Richard (Team Member)
