What are you thankful for?

What’s one thing you’re grateful for this year, even if it’s something small, that helped you get through a tough moment or supported you on your RA journey?

  1. I'm thankful that, while it took over four months, my wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), last week got her new motorized wheelchair that has the special features to give her the supports she needs, both for her joints and to maintain her freedom of mobility out and about in the world. Also, we were able to donate her previous chair (that I always maintained in fine working order) to someone who can really use it!

Following 's lead, I want to keep passing the question along. What can you point to that has helped with your RA journey and to maintain abilities, mobility, independence ... you get the picture 😀. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  2. While not RA related, I try to find lots of little and big things to remind me that the world is still full of joy, . Heated mattress pads, the first snow of the season, my grandson's wrinkled nose when he grins, hearing my Dad's favorite Christmas song on the radio. Each season, I do my best to find those things.

And, since winters can be really dreary where I live, I savor each sunny day we get!

    Best, Erin, Team member.

    1. The older I get, the more the smaller things mean so much more to me. It’s so easy to get caught up in societal norms and expectations, and before you realize it, they start shaping your views on what’s important from the outside rather than what actually brings you peace, fulfillment, and joy. I’m learning to slow down, reflect, and define what matters to me on my own terms instead. And for that alone, I am thankful. Thanks so much for chiming in on this post! -Latoya (Team Member)
