Advice newly diagnosed

Hi all I was diagnosed in February 2026 still finding out how to cope with pain and everything that goes with it

  1. Hi there, ! Being newly diagnosed can definitely feel like a lot to take in, so I completely understand your worry about how to navigate this whole thing. I want to start by saying that honestly, it’s just going to take some time. There’s a lot to learn, cope with, and adjust to, and that alone can come with so many learning curves. So please be patient with yourself and give yourself some grace along the way. Take things one day at a time and give yourself the space to figure out what works best for you. And know that you don’t have to navigate it all alone. There are so many people here who understand what you’re going through and are willing to share what they’ve learned along the way. Are you currently on a treatment plan for your RA? Hang in there, Latoya (Team Member)

  2. Hi yes I’m on medication for it , it is hydroxychloroquine thank you for the advice

    1. No problem! How has taking Hydroxychloroquine been going for you? Is it helping to bring you some relief, even if it's just a little? -Latoya (Team Member)

  3. Hi . On top of the excellent information from Latoya I want to note that our contributors have written quite a number of articles for the newly diagnosed, such as Kat here: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/support-new-diagnosis and https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/care-management. Also, here is Amanda on what she wishes the doctor had told her: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/better-patient-education and Kelly on questions for the doctor: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/questions-for-the-doctor. Finally, here is an extensive Forum discussion on being newly diagnosed that includes community member thoughts from as far back as 2017 to the present: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/stories/newly-diagnosed-ra. I hope this information is useful and please feel free to ask further questions - this community is here for you. Best, Richard (Team Member)
