Hi . I'm tagging my friend and colleague because he has been through blood cancer with RA. He and others commented in this Forum on rheumatologists and cancer treatment: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/forums/rheumatologist-oncology. One thing I can tell you is that Humira, methotrexate, and chemo are all immunosuppressive. In much larger doses methotrexate is actually used to treat some cancers. I suspect that the exact answer to your question may depend some on the specifics of the individual case. Also, remember that the patient has a say in what they are willing to try. Dan can go into further detail, but I recall that he basically told the doctors they needed to treat both conditions for him to be able to function. Hopefully anyone else with experience will also chime in. Best, Richard (Team Member)
