Infushion

I usually get my infusions every 2 months but the last 2 times I experienced pain in my both legs and my both shoulders. Yesterday I experienced something new I started feeling nauseated
My chest felt very heavy and my b/p was over 190! The nurse put 2 syringes into the IV and gave me oxygen and I felt a little better. Last night both my legs hurt and today both shoulders I don't understand what's going on.

  1. Hi, !

First off, I am sorry you experienced these issues following your infusions. Please keep in mind that I am not a physician and am not offering medical advice. The reaction you experienced during your latest infusion is a bit concerning. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it, if you haven't done so already. Here's one health leader's article on what to expect when getting an infusion -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/infusion-medicine-what-to-expect. I only share it because I wasn't sure if you were receiving any "pre meds" to help with any potential infusion reactions. Also, many people do experience some issues the day(s) after an infusion, but you should talk to your doctor about any issues you experience, both to have those issues noted in your medical records and also to troubleshoot any reactions or perhaps offer some treatment options for those issues. Some pain and stiffness may not be unusual, but again, please have those symptoms noted in your records.

If you notice anymore strong reactions during your infusion, it may be time to sit down with your doctor and weigh the pros and cons of your current medication.

    Best, Erin, Team Member.

    1. Thank Yoi

      1. Hi . On top of the excellent information from Erin, I want to share with you this previous Forum about an infusion reaction: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/forums/reaction-to-remicade. In this case the treatment was Remicade. I don't know what your drug was, but I suspect much of the information still applies. Also, here is another one about a Rituxan infusion: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/forums/rituxan. Hope these are informative, but I want to stress, like Erin, the need to speak to your doctor. Wishing you the best and please feel free to update us on how you are doing. Richard (Team Member)
